My Deco & Style

Colors add a lot of fun to your bedroom! All you need to do is pick your favorite color and add a few accent colors that match and go from there! If your walls are a neutral color, then be sure to get something that accentuates the walls too. You don't want to clash with too many colors. If your walls are white, then you can add some fun wall pictures to coordinate with the colors you have chosen for your bedding. Now if you have bright colored walls like green, purple, pink, etc. then again like with the neutral color, be sure that your bedding colors coordinate in some way.

Don't have a desk in your bedroom but need one? Here is a great idea! Clear out a small corner of your bedroom and put a small desk with a chair in the new space. Perhaps the desk and chair can match your decor, but if it doesn't, don't worry about it. You can just get a cool lamp or a cute picture that coordinates and you are good to go!

To Night Stand or not to Night Stand?  That is the question! Having a night stand really depends on your want and/or need for one. If you like to read or talk on the phone you need one. It also creates a great place to put your alarm, eyeglasses, journal, remote control, fresh flowers , pictures of family and friends, or a bedtime snack! Just be sure to keep it clean! It's not fun to reach over for the alarm and put your hands in a glass of left over milk. Ewww!

Is your bedroom way too small? Need more room? We came across a great idea that can help you with spacing issues! Here is a cool bunk bed/desk combo just for you! With this bunk/desk combo you can save quite a bit of space and still have room to entertain your friends when they come over. Just add a cool rug, pics and your personal touch and you are good to go!

Other great tips include:

  • A bulletin board to put all of your stray pictures.
  • A book shelf for books, pictures, plants and even folded blankets and throws.
  • Adding throw pillows is an inexpensive way to add color and spruce up your bedroom.
  • Put storage bins under your bed for out of season clothes. It saves a lot of space!

Now let's discuss $$$ for your new project! These ideas are all wonderful and can be done for very reasonable prices. The first thing you should do is talk with your parent(s) about your ideas and get their permission. Find out what they are willing to pay for. Hopefully they will buy the bigger things like furniture (if you need new furniture).

Once that is done, log on to websites like WalMart, Target, Pier 1, etc. and create your very own Wish List. Wish Lists are free to set up. It is just like online shopping except your family and friends can go online and buy items you chose straight from your Wish List. Does it get any better than that?!?!?!

You simply browse through the websites, pick out what you want and add it to your wish list. Just like that!!! When you are done, send emails and/or notes to your family and friends informing them of your plans to redecorate your room and ask them to purchase something from your Wish List if they are able.

Before you know it, you will be enjoying your newly decorated bedroom!
